Erie Yacht Club Sailing Instructors Needed!

The mission of the Junior Sailing Program is to teach children how to sail in a fun and safe environment and to instill in them a love for the sport.  Respect for boats, each other, and the water, along with sportsmanship and safety, are the guiding principles of the program.

Qualifications:

As of 1993, all Erie Yacht Club Sailing Instructors are required to hold a current US SAILING Level 1 certification.  In order for their certification to be valid, an instructor must hold current First Aid and CPR certifications, along with a Pennsylvania Boater Safety Education Certificate. 

All instructors must have PA State Required Child Clearances and Working papers, if necessary, prior to employment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact Melanie Garner at 814-453-4931 x204 or melanie@erieyachtclub.org.

Parental Waiver

It is the policy of the Erie Yacht Club that the US SAILING Level 1 certification is to initially be paid for by the applicant and not the Erie Yacht Club. However, the Erie Yacht Club will reimburse the cost of the US SAILING Level 1 class once the applicant has completed and passed his/her course and is hired as a sailing instructorThe Erie Yacht Club will not reimburse instructors for any classes beyond level 1 certification.
